No, this is not something we offer or provide for a multitude of reasons.
1) First our insurance covers us for our exhibits and games, not yours.
2) Second the exhibits in the museum are for use of visitors. If we had one visitor hogging a machine to test their own hardware or games then other visitors who are paying for entry might (quite rightly) get annoyed that the machine in question isn't available.
3) Third, all our exhibits have to be maintained and repaired by our repairs volunteers (there's quite a lot of "behind the scenes" work to keep everything going). We can't jeapoardise this hard work and financial expense by visitors bringing in their own hardware/software and plugging it into ours, sorry!
4) Everything plugged in must be PAT tested and electrically safety tested by volulnteers who have the relevant qualifications / certs etc.
Our "no outside items" does include games and software as well as physical items, sorry!
We're incredibly confident however that with our approx 60 hands on machines in 6 themed rooms that you'll have more than enough to occupy yourself for hours at Derby Computer Museum and that you'll have a fantastic time visiting us :) You can book online here.
