Can I do work experience at the museum?

SEN work experience

We provide work experience for young adults with special educational needs (SEN) through Horizons Sixth Form.

This is for students who attend Horizons Sixth Form.

Work experience placements (eg 1 week / 2 week placements)

We do not provide traditional work experience placements. This is because the museum is usually open on Saturdays and because we are volunteer run and approx 80% of our volunteers have full time jobs. So unless you want a work experience placement where you'd be sitting in an empty museum with all the lights and exhibits turned off, with nobody to supervise, then unfortunately we are simply unable to provide work experience placements, sorry!

We get dozens of requests for this each year, so please do not email us asking for work experience placements as we are unable to provide them.

We do accept volunteers from ages 16 and up however, so if you want to volunteer to run the museum on Saturdays when we open to the public, please visit our volunteer page.
