This was a successor to the Amiga 500, and was the first Amiga model to be manufactured in the UK. Like its predecessor, it was a rival to the Atari ST range of computers which also used the Motorola 68000 processor (CPU). It has a built in 3.5” floppy disk drive (with an external one added too). Compared to the Amiga 500, it has more memory, improved graphics (from Commodore's Enhanced Chip Set) and can also support an internal hard drive. It is also physically quite a bit smaller. However despite these upgrades, contemporary PCs were taking away much of the Amiga's market share as a gaming platform in the 1990s. |
