What happens to exhibits I donate?

When we receive donated exhibits we:-

• Label and asset tag so we can track the exhibit and who donated it
• Test and check for working condition, faults, potential future “hidden” faults which may occur (eg components that are likely to fail soon)
• Electrically test for safety
• Last but not least, we decide what to do with the exhibit which may be to:-
  • Put it on display
  • Archive it for future display
  • Retain as spares
  • Sell it to raise money for the museum

Everything is catalogued on our exhibit database, and where possible asset tagged. We log who donated the item, when it was donated, the make/model, year and country of origin, etc.

Our exhibit database is connected to our website, and we periodically review all new entries so they appear on the exhibits section of this website. We are a little bit behind on this however and working through a backlog so bear with us!
