We have a dozen or so volunteers who help out as museum guides already but we need more! You'll need to commit to volunteering at least one Saturday a month.
You'll need to have a passion for retro computing and/or games, and you'll be able to have great chats with fellow volunteers and visitors about all things retro computing and gaming!
Museum guides will need to:-
Some of our volunteers have autism, anxiety disorders, and/or ADHD themselves. We also partner with Horizons SEN Sixth Form (special educational needs). So whilst we definitely can not profess to being experts with these conditions (we're not doctors), we understand more than most and will always do our best where possible to accomodate you.
We have also had young volunteers with autism and/or ADHD or anxiety issues join us and really evolve and come out of their shell, and build up people skills since joining us.
Please note you will be working with the public.
This costs £18 but we will refund this to you after you have volunteered 4 shifts
You will need to complete this before volunteering. It's easy to do and you can do it online.
Please download one of the below application forms and then email it back to us.
Please excuse the formality; we just need to know what experience you have, how you can help, etc. The application forms also explain what we require etc. Thank you in advance!!
Once you've completed your application form please email it our volunteer manager, Nathan:-
volunteer@derbycomputermuseum.co.uk
If you are approved as a volunteer (once you've applied above) you will need to:-
No potential volunteers are officially enrolled as volunteers until their application is approved, their DBS is complete, and their contract is signed.
